Abstract: This paper measures the developing level of high-tech industry with revenue from principal business and explores the spatial inequality and temporal-spatial evolution of the whole and regional high-tech industry using Dagum gini coefficient, kernel density estimates and spatial Markov chain. The results of the study are as follows. From the view of time, the high-tech industry has shaped industrial agglomeration in the east of China. Besides, as time goes on, the spatial inequality within and between subpopulations has decreased gradually. From the perspective of space, the development level of overall and regional high-tech industry is rising, but the inequality between subpopulations is widening, and the high-tech industry in central subpopulation and the western subpopulation have obvious polarization. In addition, the level of development of high technology industry in neighborhood will affect the development level of local industrial zone. If the neighborhood development level is higher than local development level, the promotion between the two regions will be very obvious. Conversely, the promotion will be inconspicuous.
